The College Football Playoff continues on New Year's Day when (1) Oregon faces (8) Ohio State in the Rose Bowl. This is a rematch of one of the best games of the 2024 college football season when Oregon defeated Ohio State 32-31 on Oct.

Not even the Granddaddy of Them All can remain unchanged by the 12-team College Football Playoff. Oregon and Ohio State can't participate in much of the traditional Rose Bowl pageantry because the oldest bowl game is serving as a CFP quarterfinal this year.

If the sequel is as good as the original, somebody better make sure Granddaddy doesn’t have a heart attack. Oregon’s 32-31 win over Ohio State on Oct. 12 was the game of the year in college football.
