Sir Keir Starmer is set to recall ministers from their summer break to discuss Gaza after he meets with Donald Trump on Monday. The Prime Minister is expected to hold an emergency Cabinet meeting this week as the pressure from his party - and outside - mounts to recognise a Palestinian state.

Britain has long supported the idea of an independent Palestinian state existing alongside Israel, but has said recognition should come as part of a negotiated two-state solution.
