State lawmakers are taking up a bill aimed at helping Oklahoma families put food on the table during the summer break.

Under the new rules, certain high-sugar or low-nutrition items will no longer be eligible for purchase. In Idaho and Oklahoma, restrictions on purchasing soda and candy take effect on February 15.

The bill would also tackle some of the governor’s and Republicans’ other priorities, like making ivermectin more accessible and removing food dyes from Iowa school meals.
