The U.S. struck another alleged drug vessel Tuesday night, this time on the Pacific side of South America, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth confirmed Wednesday. Charlie D'Agata reports.

The U.S. military has carried out another airstrike on an alleged drug cartel vessel on Tuesday night, according to two U.S. officials, this time in the Pacific Ocean. It is the eighth known U.S. strike against an alleged drug boat since early September.

This is the eighth US strike on alleged drug trafficking vessels near Latin America, the first on the Pacific side.

The U.S. said Wednesday it had struck a suspected drug boat on the Pacific side of South America, signaling a widening of its campaign against alleged drug trafficking and transnational crime.

US forces have struck another vessel alleged to be carrying drugs, this time in the waters of the Pacific Ocean, CBS has reported. According to two US officials cited in the report, two or three people on board were believed to have been killed.

It was the eighth known strike, and the first outside of the Caribbean, in the Trump administration’s campaign against what it says are boats carrying drugs bound for the United States.

Since early September, the Trump administration has struck at least seven alleged drug-carrying boats in the Caribbean. Colombia's president is now accusing the U.S. of murder, claiming one of the attacks hit a fisherman.

Ecuador has released the survivor of a US strike on a submarine alleged to have been smuggling drugs in the Caribbean. US military forces captured the Ecuadorean national along with a Colombian citizen after they attacked the submarine the two were on.
