Why is it so hard for CAD software to merge faces?
WEBFeb 14, 2022 · As all that a CAD engine is doing is dealing with numbers some surfaces are duficult to describe in term of mathematical functions. STL is a Mesh format with planar triangular facets, so it is relatively easy to merge things. Different things are with format that describe solids with 'curves' like BSPlines or NURBS. Regards.

WEBMay 7, 2018 · The slicer will slice your model to true dimensions, and 3D-printer will generally print it to +-0.15mm tolerance. I'm now designing a plastic wing spar and printed wing ribs for a small RC-aircraft. Modelling this to true dimensions is a peace of cake: make two sketches - one for a wing profile (rib) and one (simply a rectangle) for a spar.
